What is the psychological definition of brainwashing?
If in doubt, Wikipedia: Brainwashing (also known as thought reform or re-education) consists of any effort aimed at instilling certain attitudes and beliefs of a person – beliefs sometimes conflict with unwanted the person's prior beliefs and knowledge. [1] The definition varies slightly, but knowing that is based on strength, physical or mental. The army is a example, that slowly introduce new methods of thought to the man reduced to a unit, and not an individual and all of the personality must comply within the ranges set by their superiors. For any free thought, the body feel free, does not obey blindly. Normally, you will imature answers concerning religion or politics, particularly the USA. That's a bit lame though. Some countries insist on complete mental control though. In China, religion has to be approved by the government, and Christianity is an underground movement. It can be very severely punished for possessing a Bible. Same for parts of Africa. It's a bit difficult to divide the brainwashing of preparation, however, because the definitions are very similar. When a child is being forced into an arranged marriage, is because they were prepared in the belief that they had from an early age, or is it not given a choice about who beats them at a later age? And again, I think another thing is when young people hit the stop-me-like treatment-to-child-because-I'm-a-great-adult-now insist that stage of established standards or guidelines are just there for the sake of control, and never for its own good, and is a serious abuse of the term brainwashing in these circumstances. Do not get me wrong, I know expception is not to every rule, every situation will not be the same.

Do you think people from a broken military brainwashed?
I know people who served and came back different. I can not put my finger on it, but just different. I have to agree that break you so desensitized to things that affect ordinary people.
I love people who think that the military is a group of brainwashed Borgs and the only people who see the truth are the people who bitch. Guess what, nobody is brainwashed. we are different, then returned from the service or hard deployment, but that's because we have grown a bit, I learned a little. value life a little more, maybe a little less difficult part, perhaps say "sir" and "ma'am" a little more often. that is why we are so close to those we serve. grow with us. people back home, sometimes they just do not understand.
