https://mocomi.com/ presents: Hypnotism Tricks – The art of mind control.

Did you know that 15 minutes of hypnotism equals 3 hours of sleep? Or that we experience hypnotism at least twice a day?

Hypnosis has been in practice for thousands of years. There is enough evidence to suggest that hypnosis was used by Ancient Greeks and Romans for therapeutic benefit around the fourth century BC. Egyptians had unique ‘sleep temples’ in which people were asked to lie down and listen to somebody chanting to help cure illness and get rid of the problems in their lives. Sounds like ancient spa therapy!

The word ‘hypnosis’ owes its origin to a Greek word ‘hypnos’ which means ‘to sleep.’ Franz Mesmer, an Austrian physician, is regarded as the father of modern hypnotism. Mesmer believed hypnosis to be a mystical force flowing from the hypnotist into the subject.

According to psychiatrists, hypnotism is a trance state characterized by extreme suggestibility, relaxation and increased imagination. You cannot compare it with sleeping because the subject is alert the whole time. You are fully conscious, but you become oblivious of everything that is happening around you. The hypnotist concerned also has to focus intently on the subject and eliminate any other thought in order to have a successful session.
